The short answere is yes

Slightly longer answer: lay your hands on set of fonts (with math
support) which are done using ``normal'' encodings (not the TeX-standard
ones with characters numbered 0-31 which confuse Illsutrator), then when
you make the .eps, there won't be characters encoded so as to confuse Illustrator.
