While TeXView.app on NeXTstep was able to use dvips and Display
Postscript to automagically display .dvi files, TeXShop is somewhat
hobbled in this respect 'cause of the (relative) difficulty of getting a
.pdf out of a .dvi.

If there are no fonts in the file which you don't have, ``dvipdfm''
should make a .pdf which one can (after a fasion---warning, ugly type 3
fonts :( view using Preview.app, or Acrobat Reader or GhostScript.
