Works nicely!

I tried this wavelet matrix [u can even typeset it in Mail.app]:

$
      x=\pmatrix{%
          h_{0} & h_{1} & h_{2} & h_{3} & 0 & 0 & 0 & 0  \cr
          h_{2} & h_{3} & h_{0} & h_{1} & 0 & 0 & 0 & 0  \cr
          h_{3} & -h_{2} & h_{1} & -h_{0} & 0 & 0 & 0 & 0  \cr
          h_{1} & -h_{0} & h_{3} & -h_{2} & 0 & 0 & 0 & 0  \cr
          0 & 0 & 0 & 0 & 1 & 0 & 0 & 0  \cr
          0 & 0 & 0 & 0 & 0 & 1 & 0 & 0  \cr
          0 & 0 & 0 & 0 & 0 & 0 & 1 & 0  \cr
          0 & 0 & 0 & 0 & 0 & 0 & 0 & 1}
