<div style="">I would rather say that the side on which the footnote appears does not depend of the fact whether it is first or second, but on the dominant language of the document. If the dominant language is Persian, all footnotes start on the right, if it is French they start on the left.<div>

But Persian users will prefer the method that I implented if there are mixed Persian and English footnotes. Let's say if all the footnote rules were to appera in the right hand side and in a page we had an English footnote, will that page really look nice?<br>
<br>Anyway, maybe we thinkdifferently. But the rule I talked about is the rule that has been used in Iran and can be seen in Persian maths textbooks.<br></div>
