When I added \textdir to the cell the content disappeared ;-).
(Perhaps it is outside the text margin or whatever).

This worked fine.

It seems still to work fine with luatex 1.07. 

I'm currently checking every few weeks if there is a new fontloader
and then use them to see if there are problems. If one breaks we can
take the last working version.  

But I need more testfiles ;-)

does it still panic if two object are written? 
Did you find the source for Roberts problem with the "! error:
(vf): invalid DVI command"?
