[luatex] luatex-0.95.0 on Debian - Undefined control sequence: \luatexluaescapestring

primitives have changed, and so have the .ini files.
You cannot use old .ini files with new luatex.

What you need to do is get the fitting set of ini files - but that 
might be complicated since it might clash with other latex files.

There is a reason why we don't update luatex (or any binary) in the 
middle of the year, since the binary updates are often linked with
library (.tex, .ini, ..) file updates to be compatible.

Why not install TeX Live (2016 or pretest 2017) in addition, use
an equivs packages to make the rest of texlive debian packages
removable?
