it would also give slightly smaller PDF files, but when one makes these
attributes global, the size of PDF files resulting from embedding PDF
files of this type may be larger than needed as one has to carry lots of
global resources over that are unneeded for some single embedded page.
Maybe your distinction Font/XObject would give some balance. Or better
keep the granularity, no idea.
