[luatex] fontspec prevents German hyphenation

There are some hacks in fontspec to emulate per font hyphen chars, not
sure if it has anything to do with this but I always felt I'm doing it
the wrong way, so I'd first try to see if this behaviour can be
reproduced without fontspec or not.
