I would stay with API fields or more exactly with the field names given 
on the web upload page (of those differ). After all, that is what I 
would know or could compare between manual and script upload. Changing 
them means as a user I need to understand how people down under tick and 
why they think that contactname is what shows up in uploader (i would 
have guessed that actually, because a later contact is something quite 
different --- like I load up but latex-team should be contacted for the 
package

how would you select that??? from a further table?

I would just put in LPPL as default and a way to change the field. 
People can use any license anyway and it will not be complete

have to run ... too many Xmas celebrations to attend ...
