Both of these programs are run from the command line which makes them compatible
with many operating systems. If you wish to use Windows (your email uses Outlook
Express) then you can avoid using the command line if you download TeX Converter
at http://www.mayer.dial.pipex.com/tex.htm.

Otherwise it is a case of reading the instructions that come with both programs
