[l2h] gifs are not generated

Thanks for the reply.
I am using Linux Mandrake 8.1.
pckepler ~ % pnmcrop --version
pnmcrop: Using libpbm from Netpbm Version: Netpbm 9.19
pnmcrop: Compiled Qui Out  4 16:32:35 BRT 2001 by user "kepler"
pnmcrop: BSD defined
pnmcrop: RGB_ENV='RGBDEF'
pnmcrop: RGBENV= 'RGBDEF' (env vbl is unset)
I rechecked l2hconf.pm and it does have the correct @IMAGE_TYPES
and $TMP = '/tmp';

I run a test with -debug but still no files were left at /tmp
so I cannot run  the cropping by hand.
I noticed that
 http://rpmfind.net//linux/RPM/cooker/cooker/i586/Mandrake/RPMS/latex2html-2000.1beta-4mdk.noarch.html
has a line saying
 * Tue Jun 05 2001 Matthias Badaire <mbadaire@mandrakesoft.com>
 * 2000.1beta-2mdk
  - fix pstoimg tmp variable issue
So I think my problem is with $TMP, but I still cannot figure out what.
