[l2h] transparent PNGs not really transparent...

I use  LaTeX2HTML Version 99.2beta5 (1.36) to translate a text with a lot
of mathematical formulae. The command line options are ``-white
-transparent'' but the resulting PNG images have a gray background, and the
HTML doesn't have a white background.
What am I doing wrong?
