[Fontinst] Naming of expertized VF with inferior/superior numerals

The subject says it all: how to you name a T1 encoded expertized VF 
with inferior/superior numerals according to the fontname scheme?

For expertized T1 VFs we have the following codes and concatenations, 
although their interpretation seems to vary:

9e
9d = j8t ?
   = j9e ?

And what about those:

9e + 0 --> 09e ?
       -->  0e ?
       -->  0d ?

9e + 1 --> 19e ?
       -->  1e ?
       -->  1d ?

I'm confused.
