???

As soon as `hyphen' is declared a second time, it gets the
higher slot number.
Question: What do you want me to move, and where should it go?

ACK.
After all, there was a reason to abandon this hack.

How to proceed? Old virtual fonts take the lower hyphen,
new VF's, made using fontinst 1.9, take the upper one.
Is this a real problem? Apparently not.
Could this cause problems in the future?
No, not as long as the hyphen appears twice in 8r.enc.
I just have an unpleasant feeling, but that's not
sufficient to justify major changes in fontinst.
Conclusion: Let's leave the things as they are!

On my web site, I have restored the previous 8r.mtx,
with the only change being the Euro.
