Historic archive

The TeX historic archive is only available on tug by ftp and rsync. Here is the README, including mirror urls:

(This trivial file is public domain.)

This hierarchy contains various items of interest in TeX history, from
individual files to entire systems. See the article by Ulrik Vieth at
https://tug.org/TUGboat/tb29-1/tb91vieth.pdf for an overview.

The master is ftp://tug.org/historic, and it is mirrored at
  ftp://ftp.math.utah.edu/pub/tex/historic/
  http://www.math.utah.edu/pub/tex/historic/
and
  ftp://ftp.tu-chemnitz.de/pub/tug/historic/
  https://ftp.tu-chemnitz.de/pub/tug/historic/
and
  rsync://texlive.info/historic/

The tug.org server has strict limits on the number of ftp connections,
so if you have trouble connecting (e.g., to get an old TeX Live or MacTeX),
which is often wrongly reported by browsers as a problem on the server,
please try one of the mirrors.
