fontname mapping

We shouldn't abandon my old (or some, at any rate) filename scheme,
because the tfm files have to be named something.  They might as well be
named something rational.

I believe Berthold told me that Adobe's naming scheme is more or less
random.  I asked him if the list was available electronically, but
perhaps my message got lost.  bkph, are you there?
